Congratulations to Kate Cameron, current BBSRC Enterprise Fellow who won the Higgs prize at the Scottish EDGE Finals last night!
Kate won the top prize at the awards ceremony worth £150,000 for innovation in science and technology. Kate’s start-up, Cytochroma, seeks to address the increasingly expensive but less effective practices of drug discovery through developing stable, scale-able, reliable, DILI predictive human liver cells in a fast, cheap and sensitive screening method, which will accurately identify toxicity.
Speaking to Kate about her big win, she said:
“I am delighted to have won the Scottish EDGE Higgs Edge prize, a special award for high scale potential STEM focused businesses.
As a BBSRC funded RSE enterprise fellow, I have received incredible support and access to an array of experts. The team at Entrepreneur Business School have provided fantastic training and helped me develop my business plan and pitching. Margaret Anne Craig’s mentorship has been invaluable in my EDGE prep. The prize money will enable me to build and expand my company, carry out essential validation studies and hopefully attract significant customers and investment.”
