To coincide with its Annual Statutory Meeting the RSE is today launching a new strategic framework for the period 2016 – 2021. The framework document details the RSE’s vision, strategic objectives and impacts as well as a number of key development goals for the next five years.
At the heart of the strategy is the RSE’s vision “to play a leading role in the development of a modern enlightenment that will enable Scotland to contribute significantly to addressing the global challenges facing humanity in the 21st Century.”
Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, RSE President commented “This Strategic Framework demonstrates the RSE’s desire to play an even greater role in the wellbeing of Scotland and all its people. We will build on our existing strengths but we need to seek opportunities too. We must also strengthen the foundations that underpin all we do, so the RSE has the capacity to deliver its vision now and in the future.”
Today the RSE is also launching a modern brand design and website to support and enhance the aims and impacts laid out in its strategy. The brand has been developed with the use of striking imagery that reflects the work of our Fellows in the RSE’s four key disciplines – Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences and Business & Public Service. There is also a new strapline “Knowledge Made Useful” that harks back to the Society’s creation by Royal Charter in 1783 “for the advancement of knowledge and useful learning.”
