Congratulations to RSE Fellow Alison Phipps OBE, UNESCO Chair of Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts, and Professor of Languages and Intercultural Studies at the University of Glasgow on being elected today to the Fellowship of the Academy of Social Sciences. Alison is a leading researcher and public figure in conflict transformation, sanctuary and asylum seeking, as well as education and languages for peace and non-violence.
Congratulations also to Young Academy of Scotland Member and Co-Chair, Nasar Meer, Professor of Race, Identity and Citizenship at the University of Edinburgh on his election to the Academy. Nasar is a leading scholar in the study of comparative citizenship, including multiculturalism, interculturalism and integration with focuses on Muslim experience and Scottish understanding of nationhood and race.
