The RSE’s response to the Scottish Funding Council’s consultation on the development of a single ‘knowledge exchange office’.
The discussion covered the following areas:
The need to recognise the critical inter-relationship of research, policy and practice.
Ensuring that educational research is facilitated with appropriate access to and use of data, including linkages across relevant datasets; sustainable funding for research; and addressing skills capacity, particularly quantitative analysis.
Any strategy or set of expectations must ensure that it undermines neither the research effort nor the creativity of researchers.
Recognition that direct dialogue between researchers and teachers is an influential factor in the translation of research into classroom practice.
The discussion was held under the Chatham House Rule. The full report can be accessed here.
