Professor Philippa Tansy Kemp Saunders FRSE

Professor of Reproductive Steroids, University of Edinburgh.

Biomedical scientist Professor Philippa Saunders is internationally recognised for her ground-breaking research on the role of sex steroids in the health and disorders of human reproductive tissues. As co-Director of EXPPECT, Philippa leads research on endometriosis and has developed new preclinical models for endometriosis and for other women’s reproductive health disorders. These models are being used to accelerate development of novel therapies to treat conditions that affect millions of women world-wide. Alongside her role at the University of Edinburgh Philippa is Registrar at the Academy of Medical Sciences where she leads initiatives to support young people to develop their research careers and is Chair of the Springboard Grants Scheme and co-chair of the Team Science Working group.
