Head of the Medical School, Director of MRC Centre for Inflammation Research, Sir John Crofton Professor of Respiratory Medicine, University of Edinburgh.
Professor Moira Whyte is an academic clinician, combining clinical practice in respiratory medicine with research into mechanisms of resolution of airway inflammation and regulation of immune cell death. Her research has defined mechanisms underpinning the persistence of neutrophils in tissues and how they contribute to tissue injury and chronic inflammatory lunch diseases. A particular interest is the career development of junior academics, both clinical and non-clinical and she leads the Edinburgh Clinical Academic Training programme and chairs MRC’s Training and Careers Group. Moira is a member of MRC Strategy Board and Chair of REF 2021 sub-panel for Clinical Medicine.
