Professor James Garden is Surgeon to HM The Queen in Scotland. He trained in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Paris in hepatobiliary, pancreatic and liver transplantation surgery. Since his appointment as a consultant surgeon in Edinburgh in 1988, he has led significant clinical, academic and service developments. James has published extensively, has strong interests in medical education and has specific expertise in surgical distance learning. He continues to use his experience and extensive international network to benefit Edinburgh philanthropically and has organised several congresses in the city.
