Professor Chris Ponting is Professor of Medical Bioinformatics at the University of Edinburgh and Associate faculty member of the Wellcome Sanger Institute. His research explores the full extent of the human genome to better understand basic biological and disease processes. Chris’ career transition from physics to genome biology has given him a broad understanding of evolution and molecular mechanisms, allows his group to address diverse biomedical questions using new technology. A longstanding interest includes assisting the career transitions of scientists from diverse disciplines into biomedicine.
