Growing Healthcare Technology Businesses: Bringing Engineering Inventions to Market with Limited Resources

This event has passed

Lecture

Ian Stevens has been fortunate to be associated with the development of 3 disruptive and leading healthcare technologies over the last 14 years; firstly the Optomap retinal scan from Optos, then Smartmesh for pelvic floor restoration from Mpathy Medical, and most recently the I-limb multi-articulating prosthetic hand from Touch Bionics. In this lecture he explored how these inventions were brought to market, describing some of the challenges overcome and discussing how the products evolved to meet the needs of their users.

This was a joint annual lecture with the Royal Academy of Engineering to promote research in engineering.
