In response to the Scottish Government’s review of school governance, the RSE hosted a roundtable meeting in Oct 2016. A discussion report has been produced to capture the key issues raised at this meeting.
The Scottish Government has prioritised closing the attainment gap between the most and least disadvantaged children, and raising attainment more generally. However, the RSE feels that the Government has not made clear how the proposed governance changes will: lead to improved educational experiences and outcomes for young people; and secure the kind of parental engagement that helps to raise standards, especially among disadvantaged children.
