Auber Bequest

Funding area: Arts and Humanities, Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine (STEMM), Social Sciences

As a result of a generous bequest from the widow of a former Fellow of the RSE, Dr Lewis Auber, the RSE is pleased to offer assistance for the furtherance of academic research in any of its branches.

This scheme is awarded on a biennial basis.

This call is currently closed for 2019. The RSE is currently undertaking a review of its Research Awards Programme and announcements on future funding opportunities are planned for Spring 2020.

Fund value

Awards for up to £3,000 are available.

Fund duration

Awards are made on a biennial basis and will be for a period of no more than two years.


Applicants should be naturalised British citizens or desire to acquire British nationality (applicants cannot be British at birth), be over sixty years of age, reside in Scotland or England and be bona fide scholars engaged in academic research (but not industrial research).
