Congratulations to RSE Fellow Professor John Mallard OBE who has been honoured by the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP) by their naming of a new international award in medical physics after him.
Professor Mallard played a crucial role in the development of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Positron Emission Tomography, two of the world’s most important medical technologies. The IOMP John Mallard Award honours his pioneering work in these fields of medical imaging.
The John Mallard Award will be given triennially, and will honour a medical physicist who has developed an innovation of high scientific quality and who has successfully applied this innovation in clinical practice, or who has led a team developing this innovation.
