The New Enlightenment Fund

The RSE strategic framework document Towards a New Enlightenment sets out a four year vision for the organisation. In order that this is adequately resourced, we have recently launched the New Enlightenment Fund.

At the heart of the Fund is a series of goals that are crucial to Scotland’s continuing development that the RSE believes will resonate with individual and institutional investors alike. These are to –

- Stimulate and support academic excellence in all areas of learning and research, to aid Scotland’s future prosperity and secure its status in a challenging international environment

- Enthuse and inspire Scotland’s young people about the benefits of knowledge and learning, so that they might maximise their skills for the betterment of themselves and the country in which they live

- Encourage and support the development of emerging Scottish talent that will be central to the future leadership and vitality of Scottish society, both economically and socially

- Initiate, promote and lead relevant public debate on matters of national importance that affect Scotland’s wellbeing

In order to ensure that we are able to achieve the aims set out in the Framework, we have launched the New Enlightenment Fund.  Through a range of options for giving, including legacies, regular donations and one-off donations, we want to ensure that we are able to fund, both in the short and the long term, the ambitious and worthwhile activities of the RSE.

One-off donations

One-off donations can be made by credit or debit card payment, using the paypal button below, or by cheque made payable to The Royal Society of Edinburgh and sent to 22-26 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2PQ.

Regular Donations

Regular donations can be made through bank transfer or payroll giving.  Please contact our Finance Department if you require any information or advice.

Gift Aid

Gift Aid increases the value of donations to charities by allowing them to reclaim basic rate tax on your gift. If you pay higher rate tax you can claim extra relief on your donations. If you claim age-related allowances or tax credits, Gift Aid donations can sometimes increase your entitlement. More about Gift Aid

Legacies

This form of giving makes an extremely valuable contribution to the resources available to registered charities, as well as having tax benefits for the donors estate. If you are interested in discussing, in confidence, how a legacy might contribute further to the life of the Society and its public-benefit activities, please contact the Chief Executive, Dr William Duncan.

Donations from America

It is possible to make donations to the RSE through the American Fund for Charities, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organisation. Using the donation form, you can either send your donation to us and we will pass it on to the AFC for processing, or you can send it directly to them at:
